Green Day: Rock Band is a music video game released by MTV Games and marketed by Electronic Arts. Harmonix developed it. It is the fifth major console release in the Rock Band music video game series. Like the other games in the series, it allows players to play rock music using controllers shaped like musical instruments. Green Day, an American punk rock band, is featured on the game’s setlist. Green Day: Rock Band includes virtual representations of the three band members performing the songs in specially built locations for the game.
The game combines existing Green Day songs previously released as downloadable material for the Rock Band series. It allows players to export its entire tracklist to all other Rock Band game titles except The Beatles: Rock Band. On May 25, 2010, a free playable demo of the game was made available for the Xbox Live Marketplace and for the PlayStation Network on May 27, 2010. The demo includes complete, playable versions of two-game tunes, “Welcome to Paradise” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.”
