METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE expands the renowned METAL GEAR franchise into exciting new territory by delivering an all-new action experience unlike before. METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE brings together two of the world’s most respected development teams, Kojima Productions, and PlatinumGames, with the common goal of providing players with a fresh synergetic experience that combines the best elements of pure action and epic storytelling, all within the expansive MG universe. The game’s central character is Raiden, a child soldier transformed into a half-man, half-machine cyborg ninja armed with a high-frequency katana blade and a soul fueled by vengeance. Cyborg technology will be commonplace in society shortly. Three years have passed since the Patriots system, which had secretly controlled the global power balance from the shadows, collapsed. Peace, on the other hand, remains elusive. As those who hold the trade gain more power, the spread of cybernetic technology has caused instability and conflict. Furthermore, large ‘Private Military Companies,’ or PMCs, supported and controlled by the Patriots have collapsed, spawning a slew of rogue entities with ties to larger criminal organizations. These rogue PMCs using cyborg technology have become more disruptive, shifting policy and power at will. Raiden, a member of the PMC ‘Maverick Security,’ lives by the mantra of protecting and saving lives. But, as the world descends into asymmetric warfare, the only way forward is to resolve his past and carve through anything that stands in his way.
