This HD remastered edition of the classic, which builds on the well-received 2002 “REmake,” brings back the tremendous fear fans initially experienced with the publication of the original Resident Evil in 1996.
Players can assume the character of Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine, two S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) team members who have been dispatched into the city to locate the missing Bravo team. The action takes place in the now-infamous Raccoon City. The gang takes refuge in the Mansion when they are unexpectedly besieged by a vicious pack of canine mutants. Will they ever make it out alive? As they explore the dark, restricted areas in search of the horrors that await them, players will need to have courage. Gamers will need to stay sharp to survive the different traps and riddles that face them at every stage because they have a limited supply of ammo and survival kits at their disposal.
Characters and surroundings in Resident Evil now come to life in more detail than ever before thanks to resolutions and textures that have been enhanced for HD game platforms. In addition to the stunning visuals, the dramatic sound effects have been completely redone with 5.1 surround support for a more immersive gaming experience. Players can select a bespoke 16:9 widescreen mode that scrolls with the action or the standard 4:3 ratio. For lovers of the original playing style, the traditional control scheme is still available, or there is an alternative control scheme where the character goes in the same direction as the analog stick.
