The role-playing game Resonance of Fate is set in the future, when life on Earth has become impossible due to pollution, and humanity has relocated to Basel, dominated by artificial intelligence. It is a city erected atop a tower-like structure that rises high into the clouds. The plot of the video game centers around the character of Vashyron, who is the head of the PMF (Private Military Firm), as well as two additional characters named Zephyr and Leanne, who join Vashyron’s company and take on missions from the people of Basel.

The fights in Resonance of Fate are conducted using a novel and innovative turn-based system known as tri-Attack-Battle (t-A-B for short). Until a character’s turn is over, they must use their action gauge to perform movement, charging, and attacks. However, opponents will continue to launch real-time attacks even if the player is carrying out operations. The player must build up their charge before fighting an adversary, and this happens more quickly when a character is closer to the adversary. For an attack to succeed in combat, it must first have at least one full charge. Spells can cause only temporary damage, such as scratch damage, with machine guns and rapid-fire weapons or cause permanent damage, such as direct damage, with pistols and grenades. Scratches are considered to be persistent if they are caused by immediate harm. The turn of a character is finished once an attack has been completed. Thus, it is up to the player to use their feelings in a way that deals both forms of damage to foes promptly and effectively.

The game’s special attacks are presented as Hero Actions, in which a character can be dispatched down a route shooting several times and many foes while immune to attacks from those enemies. Bezels are required to perform Hero Actions, and if a player’s supply of Bezels is depleted, they enter Critical Condition. In this state, the player cannot utilize items, and their attack and accuracy are severely hampered. However, Bezels can be reclaimed by destroying an opponent’s body parts or defeating an adversary. Hero Actions can also be used to build up to a different kind of special attack known as a Tri-Attack, in which all three characters will attack at the same time. However, to use this attack, certain conditions must first be satisfied.
