There is a wide selection of vehicles, courses, and upgrades available in Ridge Racer 7. In the career mode, a single player can work toward becoming the best, while online, up to 14 people can compete against one another for the highest rank worldwide. In the single-player campaign, there are a total of 160 races spread across 22 different courses. These courses take players through various environments, including the Lost Ruin, Industrial Drive, and the Shadow Caves. The player can select their vehicle from one of 40 available vehicles and then personalize it with 375,000 design options and 7,150 different tuning changes (a new addition to the series). The player’s ability to demonstrate their technical and aesthetic prowess and their driving aptitude may be displayed in online multiplayer races through bespoke whips, which can be shared between races.
The practice of slipstreaming has just been added to the gameplay of Ridge Racer. Players can improve their top speed and rapidly pass the automobile by following closely behind opponents and keeping close to them. When high rates are drifted at, a nitro bar appears that can be filled to one of three levels: rapid boost, double boost, or triple boost.
