The first-person shooter video game Soldier of Fortune: Payback is the third entry in the Soldier of Fortune game series. Digital Extremes developed the game. In contrast to the earlier two Soldier of Fortune games, which were built by Raven Software using the Quake 2 and Quake 3 engines, Payback was developed by Cauldron HQ using the in-house CloakNT engine, which was also used in Cauldron’s previous first-person shooter game, Chaser. This is the first installment of the series to be made available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The video game was made available to the public on November 14th, 2007.
