Vampire Rain is a stealth game in the vein of the Splinter Cell and Metal Gear series. Players must guide their character through city streets while avoiding vampire enemies disguised as ordinary human citizens. Players must frequently take alternate routes to avoid enemy encounters, such as climbing onto rooftops or through alleys. Vampire Rain, unlike most stealth-action games, strongly emphasizes pure stealth. Enemies are speedy and can kill the player in two hits; the first usually immobilizes the player, allowing the vampire enough time to land the second fatal blow.
Furthermore, for the first third of the game, players lack weaponry that can effectively kill vampires without spending much ammunition. In practice, most attempts to initiate combat results in the player’s death. Furthermore, unlike in most stealth games, there is usually no practical way to hide or escape once an enemy has spotted the player, resulting in the player dying shortly after being spotted. Many missions thus require complete avoidance of enemies by figuring out the correct route to pass through the mission area without being detected. Later in the game, players are given high-powered weapons that are more effective against the vampire enemies in the game. There are also a few scripted action sequences that involve fighting multiple enemies, usually with the help of teammates or special environmental hazards. A handgun, submachine gun, assault rifle, shotgun, sniper rifle, anti-armor rifle, and a UV Knife can be used to stab an enemy from behind for an instant kill and are all part of the player’s arsenal. Suppose the player collects enough “Medals” that are hidden or difficult to reach throughout the game, as well as completing specific missions under certain conditions, such as within a time limit, without needing to retry from a checkpoint, or without killing any Nightwalkers. The player will be rewarded with extra side missions and challenges in that case. Online multiplayer features up to eight players in standard modes such as deathmatch, team deathmatch, and capture the flag, as well as a unique way that allows you to transform into a nightwalker and fight opponents with extreme speed and power. All firearms are available online, and gameplay is handled similarly to single-player.
