Five years after The Destroyer was defeated, Pandora’s crust yielded Eridian, a valuable mineral. Handsome Jack’s Hyperion Corporation occupied the planet and stole Eridian from it after securing a moon base. After falling into Jack’s trap, four vault hunters are rescued by a ClapTrap robot and shown how to join a resistance movement to overthrow Hyperion. Borderlands 2, like its predecessor, is a first-person shooter that combines elements of role-playing games, particularly roguelikes, with vehicle-based gameplay from modern shooters. Four new characters from four classes with different special skills and weapon affinities appear in the sequel. Experience points become skill points, which can be assigned to one of three skill trees that vary by class. Weapons vary by type, firing speed, and elemental damage, which affects their effectiveness against different opponents. Players can face the game’s challenges alone or in cooperative multiplayer. The game world is now connected, unlike the first game. Non-player characters now have schedules and agendas instead of being stuck in place. The Game of the Year Edition of Borderlands 2 includes: Base game.
