Practice, regular competition (where the player can select or deselect each event for men and women), random events, Decathlon or Heptathlon, and, of course, the Olympics are all game modes. While past games were mainly merely a series of events, the Olympics in Beijing 2008 are significantly more complicated and include a game in which the player must complete several challenges each day, with the difficulty level and the number of required successes increasing progressively.
While there is a minor lag during the technical sections of the events in the other modes, the player must give points to it in Olympic and trigger when necessary. The player must also allocate points to other important factors such as speed, technique, and accuracy. Failure to meet the day’s goal prompts the player to reload the game and attempt again.
