What is the modern definition of the American Dream? For Niko Belic, who has just returned from Europe. It’s the optimism that he’ll be able to escape his past. For his cousin, Roman, it is the hope that they can find riches together in Liberty City, the doorway to the land of opportunity. As they fall into debt and are dragged into a criminal underbelly by a slew of shysters, robbers, and sociopaths, they realize that reality is far from the fantasy in a city that worships money and prestige and is heaven for those who have them and a living nightmare for those who don’t.
