The sequel introduces various alterations, most notably in the level design. The game’s final objective is to collect all of the Clockwerk parts, of which one or more can be located in each “world.” The “charm system” from the original game has been replaced in Sly 2 by a health meter for characters like Sly, Bentley, and Murray. The meter displays their overall health. Moreover, it takes multiple blows to take down guards. There are also new missions in which the player takes control of Bentley or Murray, who have specialized abilities and can accomplish significantly more than in the previous game. Despite these shifts in the roles played by other characters, Sly continues to be the story’s focus. As in the last match (gathering clue bottles), talents can be unlocked by opening safes in each globe. But skills can also be earned by collecting cash and purchasing them from safehouses via Thiefnet. This is similar to how the previous game allowed skills to be acquired.
