The Ghost Recon series has reached its fifth main installment with the release of Future Soldier. It is a tactical third-person shooter, just like the other games in the series, and the preferred method of play is a strategic one focusing on cover and stealth rather than charging in with all guns blazing. The game’s primary storyline takes place in 2024 and consists of twelve different objectives. It all begins in Nicaragua, where a shadow organization known as Predator attempts to stop the flow of weapons across the region. During the mission, the team is wiped out by a dirty bomb, and as a result, a new team known as Hunter is dispatched to investigate the explosion’s point of origin. The player assumes control of four troops as they progress through a plot throughout multiple countries, including Bolivia, Zambia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Norway, and Russia.

The game is played from a third-person perspective, but while the player is aiming down the sights, the view changes to first-person. Not only can enemies be eliminated with firearms but stealthy attacks from close range. The soldiers have complete freedom of movement across the terrain, typically moving from cover to cover. They also have access to adaptive camouflage, which renders them invisible when moving slowly and can be turned on or off independently. It is possible to lose cover, and if you are being attacked or shot at, your camouflage won’t protect you. Another component of the set is the magnetics, which provides a view that isolates and emphasizes any metallic features present in the surroundings. A primary weapon, a secondary weapon, and two items make up the character’s loadout, chosen before each mission begins. The Gunsmith mode allows for the complete personalization of firearms by enabling the installation of a wide variety of accessories and the customization of their internal workings. A firing range is another option for putting a combination through its paces before embarking on a mission. Other types of equipment include airstrikes, sensor grenades, and drones that can be operated remotely. The drone offers an aerial perspective, comes equipped with camouflage and a sonic boom that can throw off opponents’ concentration, and be used in conjunction with a scope to mark nearby foes. The War Hound, a giant robot that can be commanded remotely, appears in one of the missions.

Players can prioritize targets by allowing up to four enemies to be marked for a coordinated takedown by the entire squad. The team members do not aimlessly pursue aims and will step back if doing so would permanently harm their position. Their other acts are carried out by entirely independent AI and are not affected by the player in any way. The direct order mechanism used in the previous games has been replaced with the tagging system. When the player’s soldier is in the line of fire of suppressed fire, the player’s field of vision is reduced, making it more difficult to aim accurately. Each mission in the game features an additional set of four goals that must be completed to gain more weapons and upgrades. Conversations between team members provide a wealth of material for use in the narrative.

In the multiplayer component of the game, a four-player cooperative mode is included in the campaign, as well as a distinct Guerrilla mode in which an outpost needs to be defended. Additionally, a competitive multiplayer component features four game types centered on the two factions of Ghosts and Bodark, which are as follows:* Conflict occurs when two teams compete for the same set of objectives on a map. When one side has successfully captured a goal, the other must be prevented from doing so by the capturing team for a predetermined period. Once it is finished, a new plan will become available to be worked on.

Two teams compete against one another throughout three rounds, each lasting 10 minutes, in decoy mode. Only one of the three objectives is legitimate; the other two are just distractions. The fourth and final aim is revealed once the previous one has been found out. Both teams are taking turns defending and attacking, but neither knows which purpose is the most important. The attacking team must accomplish all the objectives to claim victory in a round, while the defending team must keep them safe. The round timer is increased once the primary goal has been achieved, giving the player more time to complete the secondary target.

The game “Saboteur” aims for two teams to work together to steal a bomb in the middle of the playing field and use it to destroy the other team’s base. The person holding the explosives cannot flee and can only utilize an additional weapon. If it has not been detonated after ten minutes, the team with the most teamwork activities will be the winner.

The offensive team has three tries, each lasting five minutes, to send intel while the defensive team guards the objective. The siege lasts for a total of 15 minutes. The defenders always start near the goal when the game begins, while the attackers spawn all over the map and have a spawning delay of ten seconds to contend with. There are no respawns.
