White, Shaun Snowboarding, as the title suggests, gives the player a snowboard and sends him off to four ski run locations around the world (Europe, Alaska, Japan, and a fictitious location called Park City) under the watchful eye of a professional snowboarder Shaun White as well as other professionals, moderators, pilots, and the like. But before the player can hit the slope, he must create his character by selecting different body types, clothes, and snowboards. Throughout the game, the player earns money by completing challenges, which can then be spent on more stylized clothing and other types of snowboards. Each board has six stats, such as balance or speed, and not all are the best option for every situation. While speed is essential in a race, a board with a higher rotation rating allows for better stunts. The player is placed in an open world, free to roam around the slope. Several lifts and even a helicopter transport him to various starting points, but he can also walk and discover hidden areas. The player earns respect points by performing tricks with controls primarily based on analog sticks, similar to Skate. There are also challenges on the track, such as the Jibfest, where only tricks on rails and boxes count, and the Freestyle, where every trick counts. Others include the Death Race, in which the player must reach the goal first, but as the name implies, anything is allowed, including ramming opponents and throwing snowballs to knock them off balance. Some challenges, such as King of the Hill, can only be completed with the participation of at least one other human player. The multiplayer mode essentially extends the single-player experience. Everything available in a single player is also available with other players online or via LAN. The other players are also dropped into an open world with complete freedom to do whatever they want on the server.
