Spider-Man: Web of Shadows: Amazing Allies Edition is a 2D side-scrolling action game with 3D graphics. The plot is similar to that of the seventh-generation consoles. A fragment of Venom’s symbiote infects New Yorkers, and it’s up to Spider-Man to save the city. He can switch between the back and red suits at any time, each with its moves and abilities. As Spider-Man defeats enemies, he earns skill points, which he can use to buy boosted stats and new activities. These are unique to each costume. In general, red emphasizes agility, while black emphasizes brutality. You must have the necessary points and an excellent reputation to purchase activities. Throughout the game, you have conversations with other characters and are given red, black, or neutral choices. Answering red or black will increase the importance of that suit, as will various other actions throughout the game. Each level allows you to bring five power-ups. These can be special abilities like temporary invincibility or the allies above. When summoned, they appear on the screen, deal their specific type of damage, and then vanish. By defeating bosses, you can gain allies. The red suit grants access to hero allies such as Luke Cage and Storm, while the black case grants access to villain allies such as Galactus and Hobgoblin.
