Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel

After two consecutive releases on PlayStation 2, Japan’s Ar Tonelico role-playing franchise makes its PlayStation 3 debut. The plot follows a young man named Aoto on his journey to save a girl an unknown organization has kidnapped. Aoto will form a party with the people he meets on his journey, which will take him to numerous towns and dungeons. The battle system is real-time, similar to the ones found in the Star Ocean games. In battle, only one Reyvateil can be present. The user controls one of the three Vanguard (support/attacking) members, while the AI controls the other two, albeit the player can switch between characters at any moment during battle. The Purge mechanism is essential because it enables Reyvateils to use their high-level song magic. ‘Purging,’ on the other hand, is important for Vanguard characters since it allows them to employ their greatest attacks.
