The main character of Bulletstorm, Grayson Hunt, enthusiastically complies by becoming drunk, selling off his buddies, and talking about things that you’d be ashamed to hear in a playground.
Beyond the game’s annoying cast and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it plot about a guy in a funny hat, Bulletstorm is a genuinely entertaining FPS supported by a fantastic mechanism. Grayson isn’t the only character to act like an opposable muppet, though.
The mechanism is referred to as skill shots. When you do something great in the game, like kick a bad person into an electric fence or shoot them in the throat, you can earn skill shots, which are points-based rewards. There is undoubtedly a satisfying depth to the game’s point-accumulating concept, even though the romance of the mechanic does start to fade as the story comes to a close.
The story of Bulletstorm will take you about five hours to complete, but there is a focus on replayability, with time trials and cooperative multiplayer available to make the experience longer.
