NHL 14 is a video game about ice hockey developed by EA Canada and published by EA Sports. It is the 23rd installment in the NHL series, and it was released on September 10, 2013, in North America, followed by Europe, Australia, and New Zealand three days later. However, the game was released on September 7, 2013, for EA Sports Season Ticket subscribers. Like the NHL 13 cover, anyone could vote for the player they wanted to see on the NHL 14 cover. The vote began on April 22, 2013, with 60 NHL players (2 per team) in single-elimination voting with two players in each match-up and ended on June 2, 2013. Martin Brodeur of the Devils and Sergei Bobrovsky of the Blue Jackets qualified for the final, and Martin Brodeur was declared the winner on June 28, 2013. NHL 14 featured a goaltender on the official cover for the first time since NHL 97 (John Vanbiesbrouck was on the surface that year) and the first goaltender on any official ice hockey video game cover since Marty Turco on 2K Sports’ NHL 2K6. The body of NHL 12 featured Jonas Hiller, but only in PAL regions.
