Asphalt: Urban GT 2 expands on the original game’s fast-paced racing with new features. Races are held in eight different locations around the world. There is money to be collected while racing, smashing other cars, or avoiding the cops. Money is obtained by risky driving, eliminating opponents or cops, or picking up items. When a certain cash level is reached, new elements are unlocked, such as free car tuning parts, new tracks, new vehicles, or a new game mode. Bikes are also available for the first time in the series. A boost meter can be built up while racing by picking up specific items or taking out other cars. A double boost can achieve high speeds, while a double tap to the right or left causes the vehicle to drift. By disregarding all traffic laws, a wanted meter slowly accumulates. Cops will pursue regular patrol cars and helicopters or by setting up a roadblock. The game has four modes: Evolution, a race to the top, a duel, and a race with a bet against a single opponent. The cops are more brutal when the price is higher. Beat ‘Em All: win the race by eliminating all opponents before the finish line. Cop Chase: Drive a patrol car and stop all illegal racers. The game’s theme song is a digitized version of Moby’s Lift Me Up (which also serves as the intro music for UK TV’s Formula One coverage), and the girls from the pop group The Pussycat Dolls appear before and after each race.
