In a world riven by inequity, where the poor must fight for survival, the fate of all is thrown into doubt when rebels possess a young female noble, and a magical spear of enormous power falls from the heavens. Now, pursued by incumbent forces determined to retrieve the girl and armed with a weapon capable of transforming the realm, the Resistance must fight a war to free themselves from their oppressors’ oppression. Gungnir’s tactical RPG mechanics are as unique as its story, with several new twists on a finely refined template. Gungnir’s actions have a numerical wait delay attached, building on the usual action queue of turn-based strategy RPGs. Faster actions have fewer numbers, allowing them to come before slower preceding attacks. To speed up operations, the player may forgo tactical points, which gives them more battle options. This essential risk-reward balancing, a feature of Sting games, enriches the Gungnir’s sophisticated strategic fights and provides the player with considerably more vital decisions to evaluate.
