The LocoRoco video game series spawned a spin-off called Midnight Carnival, which served as a sequel to LocoRoco 2 and was made available as a Halloween special. LocoRoco BuiBui, a red and evil version of MuiMui, pulls on a nearby star, which opens a trapdoor over a chute and into a cannon, which shoots LocoRoco into the titular Midnight Carnival that was created by BuiBui as a hidden base and also gave LocoRoco the new “boing” power. LocoRoco BuiBui is a character from the LocoRoco series. It is up to you at this point to exit the building. The gameplay is the same as in the previous LocoRoco games; you still have to roll along by going up and over walls using tilting and bouncing controls, and you still have to climb barriers. At each stage of the game, your score and the amount of time passed are kept track of. You can now customize your LocoRoco. The multiplayer component comes in the form of ad-hoc games for up to four players, which can be played on any single-player stage.
