Upper Deck’s Marvel Trading Card Game is an exact digital adaptation of the rules for the collectible card game known as Vs. System. It contains cards from every Marvel-based Vs. Set released up until the X-Men set in its entirety. The gameplay consists of head-to-head conflicts in which players recruit superhero characters onto the playfield. These characters have a variety of different abilities and strengths. The outcome of individual character conflicts is determined by each character’s default Attack and Defense value, which can be found in their profile. Character powers, Equipment cards (which give the character additional abilities or stats), Location cards (which affect multiple cards or game rules while they are face up), and Plot Twist cards (which are often played to change the outcome of individual character battles by boosting Attack or Defense values) are some of the elements that build upon this fundamental gameplay mechanism. The game has two different single-player campaigns, puzzles, tutorials, and an online option quite similar to Magic: The Gathering Online. The PC and PSP versions of the game can compete against one another in the cross-platform online mode.
