Dr. Doom has assembled a group of supervillains known as the Masters of Evil. Over 20 Marvel superheroes, including Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Blade, and Silver Surfer, have joined forces for the first time to stop Doom. As you travel across the Marvel Universe to stop this threat, you can mix and match your favorite Marvel superheroes into teams of four. Certain groups, like The Fantastic Four and The New Avengers, provide additional bonuses. Some heroes must first be unlocked. The game also includes RPG elements like leveling up. When a hero advances in level, they gain points that can be used to improve their skills. Shield Coins are also collected and can be spent on hero team boosts. You travel to legendary Marvel locations, such as Asgard and Prince Namor’s Atlantis, fighting foes with punches, kicks, and superpowers. However, superpowers consume energy, so use them wisely. Combining superpowers can result in combos. Collecting blue orbs from fallen enemies restores energy. Boss battles are like the comics themselves: titanic battles that frequently test your brawn and brain. There are over 100 heroes and villains, including over 20 playable heroes and all cameos. The game modes include single-player, co-op, and online play. Marvel Ultimate Alliance’s gameplay is an improved version of X-Men: Legends from 2004. The various versions are nearly identical. The PSP version includes three new game modes, while the Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 versions have new levels.
