This edition of EA’s perennial NCAA collegiate football franchise has updated rosters and stats. It also includes additional elements such as a momentum meter; the more players that support or oppose a side, the more the meter will light up or darken, affecting team morale and play success. It also includes a new kicking meter, spring drills that allow players to improve their stats, and a new Spring Game where players may scout out their new players in exhibition games. Aside from the PSP version, Campus Legend is a new addition – an update to the previous edition’s Race for the Heisman game, akin to the NFL Superstar mode from the Madden franchise. A rookie football player begins at a football camp, practices, and is eventually offered a scholarship to play in a division. Instead of a single drill, there are now four. Whereas in previous versions, players could select a scholarship, the game now presents a selection of possible schools based on their performance. Once enrolled, players choose a major, monitor progress reports, read the school newspaper, and have a dorm room where fan mail is received. The player’s girlfriend, depicted as a wall photo, grows increasingly gorgeous as the player progresses through the games. Classes, practice, studying, tutoring, drills, and social activities fill the days. These can also help to increase popularity and general success. Characters can be submitted to Madden 07, where their draft position is determined. The game is also linked to ESPN, with real-time updates from ESPN Radio and ESPN.com. Lee Corso, Brad Nessler, and Kirk Herbstreit lend their voices to the film. The Spring Drills and Campus Legend modes are absent from the 360 editions. Instead, it boasts better graphics as well as several mini-games.
