Phantom Brave is a strategy RPG set in the African country of Ivoire. Ivoire is made up of enormous seas and countless islands; it was formerly serene, but an old (and powerful) force is now threatening life in the various kingdoms. Marona, a 13-year-old orphaned girl, is the character you control in the game. Marona has the power to converse with phantoms, which causes hatred in others but will allow her to venture out into the world and address the difficulties that arise. Marona’s guardian is a phantom named Ash; as the game goes on, other spirits with unique skills will join your party. The combat system in the game is turn-based. During the battle, Marona can attack foes alone and summon phantoms from her group to assist her. To call ghouls, you must limit them to a screen object (such as a rock or tree). Once bound to a thing, you can control the ghost in battle, albeit phantoms can only be retained for a limited amount of rounds. The item in which you contain a spirit will alter its abilities; for example, a rock may make a heart stronger but slower to move. You get experience points to level up and grow more powerful by defeating your opponents in battle.
