The Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension video game could be considered an interactive part of the film rather than simply based on the Disney Channel Original movie. Those who have seen the film will remember the “Brand New Reality” montage sequence in which Phineas, Ferb, Candace, Agent P, and Dr. Doofenshmirtz jump from one bizarre dimension to the next, being pursued by evil Normbots. The video game’s storyline fills in some details about what happened during this frantic dimension-hopping. The various dimensions our heroes travel through contain several references to TV show episodes that were not mentioned in the film. One player can work with a computer-controlled partner, or two can co-op play simultaneously. The game plays like a typical platformer between exploring and fighting basic enemies, with numerous puzzles, mini-games, and boss battles. There are multiple items to collect, memorable characters to unlock (each with their unique ability), and costumes/skins for all the playable characters. Players can switch characters between levels once more than the two main characters are unlocked. Once earned/unlocked, weapons can be customized with different colors and sound effects.

Furthermore, numerous achievements/trophies can be obtained, and an increased difficulty mode becomes available after receiving the final trophy. The background props change depending on when the game is played (e.g., jack-o-lanterns are visible around Halloween, snowmen and Christmas lights appear in December, etc.). This game should not be confused with the DS game of the same name, which has an entirely different plot line, different types of weapons, dimension levels, and boss battles unrelated to the Wii and PS3 versions.
