“Why don’t you pay a visit to the planetarium?” The lovely twinkle of eternity that, no matter what, will never fade. “Every star in the sky is waiting for you.” It is thirty years after the Space Colonization Program’s failure. Humanity is on the verge of extinction. A constant and lethal rain descends on the Earth. “Junkers” steal commodities and relics from civilization’s ruins. One such Junker sneaks into the most deadly bankruptcies, a “Sarcophagus City” on his own. He discovers a pre-War planetarium in the heart of this deserted city. When he walks in, he is greeted by Hoshino Yumemi, a companion robot. Without a doubt, she believes he is the first customer she has had in 30 years. She tries to show him the stars simultaneously, but the planetarium projector breaks. Unable to make sense of her discourse, he agrees to try to repair the projector… In the future, humanity has nearly killed itself off due to a long-running global nuclear war caused by the panic caused by the depletion of all of Earth’s natural resources and the subsequent failure to colonize other worlds. With “The War” over and only a few thousand people remaining, a never-ending rain of possibly lethal nuclear fallout threatens to annihilate the rest. The story’s protagonist is a scavenger who has broken into an abandoned city. He seeks shelter from the storm inside a large department shop and discovers something surprising on the top floor… Planetarian is a “kinetic novel,” a linear, non-interactive visual tale that runs on Key’s RealLive engine and takes 4 or 5 hours to read. When you finish, options emerge on the main menu, allowing you to re-watch the CGs and listen to the soundtrack.
