In Tony Hawk’s Project 8, The Birdman is hunting for the top eight skaters for his new Project, and he has stopped in your city to find the best top skaters. You must demonstrate that you are the best candidate among the 200 others competing for the coveted 8 spots. You begin ranked 200th, with various objectives set throughout the city, including the return of classic mode from the early Tony Hawk games. Opportunities to advance in rank now come in a variety of forms. Throughout the city, spray-painted lines indicate a type of goal. Grinding a certain distance, completing Natas spins, maintaining your balance while doing a manual for a specific time and space, point combos, and trick combos are all possible. Players can also obtain missions from random strangers scattered throughout the city. Players can also earn Stokens by impressing the locals who can be found wandering around the city. These Stokens can purchase additional clothing, haircut styles, shoes, tricks, and boards from the store. The slow-motion “Nail the Trick” mode is new to this game, where the focus is on the skater’s feet, and the board’s movement can be controlled with both analog sticks to build up a massive combo score! The PSP version features 14 multiplayer modes and 8 classic levels, such as Hawaii, Alcatraz, and The Mall. Online multiplayer is not supported on the PS2, PS3, or Xbox versions.
