The core gameplay is essentially unchanged from the game’s predecessor, even though there have been a few tweaks here and there. The most prominent of these changes is that in addition to the standard gameplay, the game now uses a directional pad (buttons labeled with arrows) and a “hold and release” feature for the face buttons. The game now contains several colored arrows, similar to the symbols included in the first game. For instance, a blue hand going downwards signifies that the player needs to simultaneously push the “down” face button on the D-Pad and the “Cross” face button. Moreover, songs can now be played at one of four difficulties, including Extreme, which is a much more challenging level than the Hard difficulty in the original game. In contrast to the earlier game, which only included solo songs, this one will have duets, allowing players to choose between two different modules rather than just one. This also extends into the Edit Mode of the game, allowing players to design PVs for duets that have two modules each.
