Worms: Open Warfare 2 includes more maps, weapons, game modes, and options than its predecessor. Once again, each player commands a team of little worms armed with unconventional but powerful weaponry to destroy opposing teams across fully destructible maps. It is possible to play through various missions connected by a storyline with animated sequences in Campaign mode, take on multiple challenges in Puzzle mode, or take on friends and enemies in multiplayer with up to four teams, with support for offline, wireless, and new online play, as well as various schemes and new game modes such as Forts and Race. Players can also distinguish their teams by personalizing everything from worm names and soundbanks to victory dances and the team flag and creating custom flags with the flag editor. The new map types – Pirates, WW-I, WW-II, Cold War, Gulf War, and Future War – and a map editor allow you to personalize the battlefield. More weapons and utilities are available, including the new Electromagnet, Boomerang, Bunker Buster, Sentry Gun, and the return of classics such as the Holy Hand Grenade, Concrete Donkey, Super Sheep, and so on. Furthermore, the PSP version includes an online lobby with ranking and clans, Time Attack mode, a zoomable map, downloadable content, and hats. In contrast, the DS version includes Laboratory mode (mini-games that use the touchscreen/microphone), a stylus-based interface, and a scrollable mini-map.
