In 20XX, the prophesied savior of humanity, Super Baby, is kidnapped by Demon General Darkdeath Evilman in Tokyo, Japan. Only the hero Absolute Victory Unlosing Ranger can defeat him until a van hits him. Before dying, the hero gives his Morph Belt to a random spectator, who must transform into the Unlosing Ranger and battle Darkdeath Evilman… Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman is a single-player roguelike tactical RPG with no party. The levels are accessed through a hub, the Hero Base, located on Bizarro Earth, a planet on the sun’s far side. Unlocking Ranger must battle opponents by wandering around in each of the isometric dungeon maps by himself. When the main character reaches an adversary’s Field of View Range, he is noticed, and the enemy who has seen him begins to follow him.

Moving around the map requires EN, which is also necessary to employ special abilities. Unless no EN is left, it also progressively regenerates HP. The protagonist can pick up objects to use and equip as he wanders about. Each item of equipment has a durability stat (COND.). Worn items are less effective and must be mended at the blacksmith’s shop before being thrown at foes. When an opponent is defeated, it lets forth a Death Cry. Any other opponent in the Death Cry’s range will notice the Unlosing Ranger and become hostile. Following combat, the hero receives XP and levels up, increasing his stats. Most dungeons offer unique gameplay characteristics, such as cannons that can be used to reach higher or farther places. Upon entering each dungeon, the hero’s level is reset to 1, and the levels acquired add up to his total when the quest is done. Unlocking Ranger battles Darkdeath Evilman at the end of each chapter. In the traditional turn-based RPG manner, each combat is unique, with the first evocative of Dragon Quest’s first-person view conflicts graduating to more intricate modern battles…
