At the beginning of the game, the white star can withstand five strikes before it is destroyed. The player’s star must collide with a blue star of like size for it to expand. Gray is the hue of stars that are less massive than the player’s star. The size of the white star will not change as a result of the collision with these stars, but if the player maneuvers the white star into precisely the correct position, the gray star will orbit the white star and become a satellite. The red stars are significantly larger than the white ones. Traveling across space is made more accessible by the ability of the white star to circle red stars. If the white star grows large enough, the target star will glow orange and become capable of becoming a satellite. As soon as this occurs, a small crescent star will appear, and if it can successfully orbit the white star, the player will be awarded bonus points.

Additionally, collecting all of the different crescent stars is the goal to unlock new galaxies and is required to finish the game with a 100% completion rate. If it orbits the white star instead of colliding with the orange star, the round will be considered successful even if the collision will result in a loss of a hit. The player controls the star by pressing the A and B buttons on the Wii Remote to use gravity and anti-gravity, respectively, to either draw it towards or push it away from the gravitational wells of other astronomical objects. Players need to avoid crashing their star into the red stars or other floating objects like asteroids, as well as getting pulled into black holes since this will result in a loss of a hit (and in the event of black holes, the entire level will need to be restarted).
