Electronic Arts has incorporated several game modes in NHL 2002, including a Practice mode, an Exhibition mode, and a full-season mode. Even in head-to-head competition with up to four players, pulling off one-timers and block shots is possible. A GBA and a Game Pak are required for each participant in a multiplayer game, in addition to a sufficient number of GBA Game Link cables to connect all of the systems. The fact that anyone can play like a professional and that it is the first hockey game available for the Game Boy Advance makes it enjoyable.
