The first Spyro the Dragon game developed by Vicarious Visions, Spyro Orange, follows in the footsteps of Digital Eclipse’s Game Boy Advance trilogy. Instead of returning Spyro to his previous isometric excursions for his fourth appearance on the Game Boy Advance, the development team offered the dragon a more standard side-scrolling landscape for his overworld. This was done in place of taking him back to his previous adventures. However, the side-scrolling platformer is just one component of the whole experience. The gameplay of Spyro Orange is comprised of dozens of different mini-games, such as a vertical shooter in which Spyro floats around blasting sheep or collecting gems, a rapid-button-tapping challenge involving tug-of-war and the creation of ice cubes, driving around in a tank, or knocking out a series of antagonists in a Breakout-style challenge. Spyro Orange was released in 2011. The game enables link-cable play so that players may compete against one another in multiplayer challenges.
