Super Puzzle Bobble adds new components to the franchise (while removing some): Certain levels have large bubbles. When you shoot a bubble of the same color at them, every bubble in the level changes to that color. The pointer and bubbles that are shot are pretty small on some levels, allowing the player to shoot bubbles within microscopic gaps. After being clustered, these bubbles expand to regular size. A conveyor belt will occasionally surround the level. Because the bubbles’ trajectory changes when they bounce, bouncing off the ceiling and walls becomes extremely difficult. Levels do not necessarily take the traditional rectangular form. Some are jagged or have barriers within them, forcing the player to adapt strategies. In some states, small blocks appear. They alter the trajectory of the bubbles in the same way that walls do, but they travel down with the level and fall off when they come into contact with the line. The pulley system introduced in Puzzle Bobble 4 has vanished. Chain Reaction is only available in 2P battles and is entirely optional.
