Sure, she may have reacted by becoming a violent and vindictive ghost responsible for the murders of many other children and their erasures from history. Still, everyone knows that in her heart, she is simply an average and innocent little girl who is 7 years old… right? Well, no. Because, as you can see, it’s her birthday today! She’ll be turning…7 once more. However, as a means of commemoration, she has chosen to release all of her victims from their agony for twenty-four hours by bringing them together for what can only be described as a hilarious birthday party. There will be various activities, including party games, amusement, excitement, and, most importantly, romance! Join Sachiko and the beloved cast of damned souls from past Corpse Party games and a few new faces as they take the whole concept of genre and toss it aside to create something entirely new.
Heavenly Host Elementary School is a less-than-heavenly host for various events, including cooking competitions, co-ed mixers, interpretative stage theatre, classic party games, and even Lovecraftian horrors, so you should get ready to experience equal parts fright, discomfort, merriment, and perplexity. Because you are aware of the proverb that says, “There is no fury like that of a seven-year-old girl who is bored…” Corpse Party: The Midquel is a (surprise) canonical “midquel” to both the original Corpse Party and the sequel, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, and takes place sometime during both events of those games. Sweet Heavenly Host Elementary School, the otherworldly location of Sachiko Shinozaki’s one-of-a-kind birthday party, is the setting for the narrative of Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash, which chronicles the unusual events that transpired during the celebration of the birthday of the spiteful ghost girl Sachiko Shinozaki. The game’s narrative is presented as a visual novel with eight introductory chapters. These chapters each focus on a specific activity or set of related activities. It is up to the player to decide which of the game’s multiple outcomes they want to pursue, as there is only one “correct” conclusion for each section before moving on to the next. To stay alive until the end, you will need to think like Sachiko and make decisions based on what will bring her the most joy…while minimizing the number of people who get hurt.
