Cover Girl is aimed at females and is marketed as a “way to become a Truly Fabulous Female.” The game begins by asking for some personal information. You input your name, date of birth, and preferred musical genre. Then you select one of the three possible female characters to assist you through the game. The player is subsequently granted access to the Cover Girl magazine, whose content is personalized depending on a series of questions. The game, for example, asks you whether you like numbers or letters, whether you want to make culinary choices or free your inner child, and whether you prefer being dressed to kill or deadweight dumping. The game develops a Cover Girl magazine, depending on your tastes. As a digital magazine, the player can then read articles about men’s behavior, horoscopes, recipes, do a tarot reading, answer questions in a sex-o-meter quiz, consult the Manlation to learn about men’s behavior, take a Purse-tonality quiz to find the perfect purse, or do Sudoku puzzles. After working through several items, a new issue with new content based on the same themes becomes available. It also features a size translator for comparing and converting clothing and shoe sizes worldwide. There are 25 mini-games and over 100 quizzes in total. Additional magazines were unlocked and made accessible via the PlayStation Store.
