The most recent installment in the Super Robot Wars series from Namco Bandai, Super Robot Wars Z2: Saise-hen, is the direct sequel to the previously released Super Robot Wars Z2: Hakai-hen. Even though it is advertised as a two-part game, Saise-hen can be played without first completing Hakai-hen. Gamers will earn a beginning bonus in Saise-hen based on how many times they have completed Hakai-hen and an additional benefit for completing all of the Hakai-situations; hen’s, however, unlocked machines and pilots will not move over from Hakai-hen to Saise-hen. Every series that Hakai-hen has produced will be returning, and, where appropriate, their sequels or second seasons will be making their debut. Macross 7 makes its first appearance in the Z-series, and Dynamite 7 makes its first appearance in any Super Robot Wars series. Tetsujin 28, the only entirely new series, is an adaptation from the 1980s of an older robot series that came out before Mazinger.
