FIFA Soccer 06 is the series’ second appearance on the PSP, arriving only half a year after the previous game. It includes most of the game’s modes (a condensed version of those found on consoles), updates to teams and rosters, controls, and several new features, including an exclusive mini-game. The game features teams from 25 leagues from 18 countries worldwide and 40 international groups. A play is now an option for friendlies, season, and tournament play (each customizable). Challenges, a long-running feature of handheld entries in the series, return as well, with 20 comeback and 20 rout challenges from the 2004-2005 season to complete, unlocking a custom challenge editor. In addition to the returning ad hoc mode, infrastructure multiplayer has been added. Juggling is the exclusive mini-game. The goal is to keep the ball in the air by bouncing it on legs and head while selecting one of the included licensed players. The game is played by tilting the PSP sideways to make the player fully visible. While the ball is in the center of the icon, an icon indicates which directional buttons must be pressed. The game is played for a high score, with higher difficulty levels increasing. Regular gameplay controls have been improved. In particular, the First Touch and Freestyle controls have been remapped to the analog stick, with the shoulder button acting as a modifier rather than the directional pad.
