Extreme Fear: Freeride is an arcade skiing game focusing on tricks and stunts. The main mode is Mission, in which players must jump gaps, do acrobatics, grind rails, and collect stars. Completing the various obstacles earns you money, which you can use to buy essential equipment (skis, boots, helmets) and style items (jackets, goggles, gloves) from the shop. It also makes new slopes and mountains available. Freeride aims to acquire the best score possible by opening up slopes and mountains (there are four in all) and gaining endurance points. In Bone Ride, the player must gather bones within a time limit to earn balance points, whereas beating courses in Slope Style demands the player to achieve a pre-determined score to acquire trick skill points. These many game types are divided into three sections: Career, Single race, and Multiplayer. Mostly about tricks, players must be careful with their landings; if they touch the ground with their back, front, or side weight, a lower score multiplier is awarded. Aside from basic information such as time, score, and stunts, the game tracks your “flow” by performing consecutive feats. Flips, rolls, carve/cross skis, grabs, rails, jumps, and specials are among the techniques available to the six different characters.
