Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley, like its predecessor Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland, is a little different from the other Harvest Moon games in that, instead of starting a farm from scratch, you start with a fully functional farm that is, however, deserted and overgrown, and you have to keep it from being destroyed. This is similar to how Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland differed from the other games. The farm belonged to your grandfather, but since he passed away, your father has expressed interest in selling the land to the Funland Corporation. They want to turn the area into a theme park by demolishing everything there is. You realize that this is not what Grandpa Gus spent his life working for, so you decide to take over the farm, which has become disorganized, and bring it back to a lucrative state. You have two years to come up with the necessary $50,000. The gameplay is highly similar to that of previous titles. It consists of the following activities: cultivating and selling crops, raising animals, mining ores, making friends with the locals, and possibly even finding a spouse.
