Your human avatar stands alone on a platform of blocks in this strange game, battling an army of grey, black, and green cubes (or qubes). As groups of cubes begin an ominous lurching roll toward you, you must grab every cube (save the black ones) or be crushed. You can capture a single cube by lighting a square at your feet, letting a cube roll over it, and then activating that lit square. The activated court takes the cube out of play. With some forethought, you can utilize special cubes to trigger sequences of illuminated squares, capturing multiple cubes at once. However, if any cube slides off the end of the platform or you catch a black cube, the platform on which you’re standing shrinks slightly. If pushed off the platform’s edge, you will fall into the black abyss and meet your end. When the game ends, you are given a high score, which is your I.Q. This entry in the Intelligent Qube series is essentially a compilation, with almost 7000 levels drawn from the series’ three previous games (Intelligent Qube, I.Q. Final, and I.Q. Remix), as well as 100 Attack modes and a new Survival mode. Sony launched a new type of game sharing besides traditional ad-hoc multiplayer. I.Q. Mania debuted alongside the puzzlers XI Coliseum and Bakufuu Sentai Bomberman. If you have one of these games and a friend has one, you can play multiplayer games for any of them by simply connecting. Each game also comes with a demo for the other two games and five multiplayer minigames: Bowling, Kunoichi Densetsu, Double Smash, N.U.M., and Party x Party x Party are some of the games available.
