Following three PSP incarnations of the title produced at EA Canada, Madden NFL 10 development duties were restored to the series leading developer EA Tiburon. The game includes the previous version’s modes and numerous new ones. Play now; franchise, mini-camp, and practice are returning game modes. Superstar Challenge mode returns as well (with all-new situations from the 2008 season), but with a new twist: in addition to playing the “Hero,” players can also play the “Spoiler” and prevent the historical moments from occurring. A play designer has been added, which allows users to build plays and formations for use in the game’s playbooks. Spaces that have been created can be uploaded to the PS3 version. On the field, a fumble recovery mini-game similar to those seen in previous versions has been added: when both teams are in range of the ball during a fumble, who obtains possession is determined by a quick-time event that requires both button mashing and hitting the correct buttons in sequence. Another feature is a player momentum system, which allows individual players to have hot or cold streaks based on their performance throughout a game, influencing their subsequent performance. The game also includes fresh commentary from Tom Hammond and Cris Collinsworth.
