Song of the Ocean is the third installment in Nihon Falcom’s RPG PSP trilogy and the third remake based on the early 1990s games. Despite the number 3 (the third installment of the Gagharv Trilogy), it is a remake of the series’ fifth title, Umi no Oriuta. The game concludes the Gagharv trilogy with a standalone story set in the realm of Weltluna, which was once the center of an ancient civilization known as the Water Tribe. It incorporates previous titles’ conventions and offers 30-50 hours of gameplay. You play the role of Forto, who embarks on an adventure to find a song left behind by a legendary composer. The game has an improved battle system that allows you to switch between party members during battle. You will meet various characters along the way, six of whom will be able to join your party. If you have to save data from either of the first two Legend of Heroes games on your memory card, you will receive an additional bonus. You will occasionally come across areas where you can teleport to a specific section. There, you can team up with characters from previous games and go on optional adventures for experience, money, and items – an addition that rewards fans of the series from the start.
