EndWar for the Handheld is a hex-based turn-based strategy game similar to the Battle Isle series. The play occurred in the 2020s, and a conflict erupted between the world’s three major powers: Europe, the United States, and Russia. In the single-player mode, the player can experience one campaign for each of the powers. There is also a two-player multiplayer mode and a map editor that allows for user-created maps. The gameplay is divided into two stages: action and movement. The other player is in the action phase, while one is in the movement phase. The commands are carried out when the step is finished, first the actions and then the movements. This means that units can only move if they first survive enemy attacks. The player can access land, air, and sea units depending on the mission. When attacking and destroying enemy units, the teams gain experience points. More experience points equal more robust and durable units. To obtain more groups, the player can take control of buildings such as depots, airfields, and harbors, which can produce a few more units. They can also be used to repair broken machines. The headquarters is another structure.

When this is taken, the player forfeits the mission. You can request reinforcement units when retrying a mission after failing it in campaign mode. Blocking and jamming are two special tactical maneuvers in the game. When an enemy unit hampers a unit’s movement, this is called blocking. Jamming is the practice of surrounding an enemy unit with more than one unit, which results in a combat bonus. The position of the units determines the premium. For example, placing a friendly team behind an enemy results in a 50% bonus. Different groups have different combat capabilities. Airplanes, for example, can only attack other planes and not land or sea units. Some groups, such as artillery, have a more extended range and can attack units several hexes away.
