After years of conflict with the ruthless troops of Romn, the kingdom of Altago is currently being rebuilt around a nascent peace. Adol and Dogi, the archetypal adventurous couple, arrive in Altago City’s harbor and quickly fight with the Dragon Knights, the kingdom’s military police force, while attempting to protect a local girl from being harassed by one of their commanding commanders. The commander is upset by the interruption and the subsequent humiliation, so he takes Adol and Dogi into custody and accuses them of spying. After learning of the pair’s impending arrival through an old, reliable acquaintance, the king of Altago promptly frees them from custody and invites them to his quarters. He informs the men of the discovery of an ancient shrine during a recent earthquake and enlists their assistance in examining this intriguing discovery. Adol and Dogi comply, not realizing that they are about to embark on a long journey to save all of Altago from long-forgotten ancient forces and to bring together the split five tribes who serve and protect the Five Great Dragons deified beings—possibly the world’s last hope—as well as to bring together their separated members. The most recent game in the venerable Ys series, which initially appeared on the PC in 1987, is Ys Seven. This is the first version created especially for the PSP system and uses widescreen hardware. The battle system consists of a three-person battle party that engages foes in real-time combat on the field map. Both new gamers and longtime series fans will be fully absorbed in the rich, colorful universe with over 30 hours of gameplay.
