The Legos strike back in the sequel to the original LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game, where players can now explore the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV, V, and VI). Players reenact all three original Star Wars films using LEGO-sized Star Wars characters. All sets and props are made of LEGO bricks and retain properties like the ability to be rebuilt and fall apart. The game, like its predecessor, puts its spin on the series by adding a lighthearted, humorous touch to the movies and using no dialogue. LEGO Star Wars II is a third-person action/platforming game. Players take control of Star Wars characters and vehicles. In Story Mode, players use LEGO bricks to recreate critical events from the original films. Each character has weapons, such as lightsabers for Jedi or crossbows for Wookies, as well as new attacks and maneuvers. Each character also has unique abilities, such as Jedi, who can use the force; R2-D2, who can unlock doors; and Boba Fett, who can use his jetpack. It is up to the player to use these abilities to solve simple puzzles and progress through the game’s levels. Vehicle levels are more prominent than in the previous game, with longer sequences devoted to piloting classic Star Wars aircraft. A co-op mode allows two players to go through the Story Mode in addition to a single-player game. The AI controls the second character in single-player mode. Like the first game, the Free-play mode allows players to go back and replay beaten levels with any playable character they have unlocked. A new feature allows players to mix and match LEGO characters and vehicles. Power Brock items and coin stubs obtained in Story Mode will allow players to experiment with new textures, cars, and things.
